Kabir Singh box office collection day 18: The Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer is just Rs 6 crore away from becoming the biggest box-office success of 2019 in Bollywood.
A few days back Kabir Singh crossed the lifetime box-office total of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s last film, Bharat, which had made in excess of Rs 210 crore (approximately). With that, the film became the second highest-grosser of 2019. Now, Kabir Singh is just Rs 6 crore behind the highest-grossing 2019 Bollywood flick – the Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike.
Film trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, took to his Twitter account earlier today and wrote: “#KabirSingh is a lottery… Continues to surprise with solid trending on [third] Mon… Will cross *lifetime biz* of #Simmba today [Tue]… Inches closer to #Uri… Fri 5.40 cr, Sat 7.51 cr, Sun 9.61 cr, Mon 4.25 cr. Total: ₹ 239.97 cr. India biz.”

It seems like an obvious choice now that Kabir Singh will overtake the lifetime box-office collection of Uri. However, a lot of experts have also predicted that Kabir Singh will go on to earn another Rs 60 crore in its lifetime and become Shahid Kapoor’s first solo Rs 300 crore film. Whether the Shahid Kapoor starrer is able to achieve that feat, only time to tell.
Despite all the fan love and the box-office buzz, the Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer is also facing a lot of criticism from social commentators and critics alike. A lot of whom have slammed the lead character as misogynistic and patriarchal. But Shahid had requested everyone to view Kabir Singh as a flawed character and not necessarily a real-life role model. In fact, the actor has said that Kabir Singh should just be watched as an on-screen story and nothing more.
